The Metropolitan area of Bucaramanga is located within one of the three seismic nests in the world and therefore studies such as the seismic microzonation study carried out by INGEOMINAS in 2001, consider that this area presents a high seismic and geotechnical threat and therefore certain areas and especially those that have alluvial and colluvial deposits, as well as areas of rock formations with high weathering in the eastern hills, present limitations for the development of infrastructure projects, unless a seismic, mass removal threat assessment is carried out. , flooding and torrential floods that indicate otherwise or that, failing that, are reduced to low levels with stabilization works. The thickness of these deposits varies from a few meters to two hundred meters and their definition and dynamic behavior, such as the damping coefficient and the terrain degradation curves, would allow analysis to be carried out with special and non-linear constitutive models to better understand their response to a possible earthquake and thus ensure the stability of the building structures and even an optimization based on a possible smaller spectrum. The city has had accelerated growth in high-rise buildings and the areas available for construction are precisely those that have the aforementioned limitations, therefore, a new housing project with two towers up to 40 levels high, constitute a perfect scenario. to carry out a local seismic response study and perhaps make a transformation in the way future projects are designed. It should be noted that, given the acceptable rigidity and granular composition of the soils, it makes it difficult to take unaltered samples and the Colombian standard NSR-10 does not require studies of local behavior and therefore its study has not been properly established. It is sought through geophysical tests and laboratory tests such as triaxial, resonant column and bender to carry out said characterization and carry out soil modeling that allows the calculating engineer to have the appropriate inputs for his analysis.
